For 14 to 18 year olds, out affiliated Explorer Sea Scout unit offers challenge and adventure to its members.

Unit members have the opportunity to further their skills through teamwork and participating in a variety of events. In the past, members of the unit have taken part in the Great River Race, camped in Holland and been kneeboarding. Explorers also organise their own expeditions both on the water and on foot, also allowing them to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme.

Recently, members of the unit have taken on the project of sanding down and restoring our original Home Counites Gig named “Otter”. The boat has been completely sanded and varnished ready for the 2011 boating season and we hope to be able to use it on many river expeditions in the future.
